UNIVERSITY OF LANCASTER
15-18 JULY 1998

VENUE, TRAVEL AND REGISTRATION

1. CONFERENCE VENUE

The George Fox Building, Lancaster University Campus. Registration will take place in the foyer of the building, from 12.00 to 14.00 on Wednesday 15 July. All conference sessions will be in this building. If you are planning to arrive after the start of the Conference, you can register during the coffee/lunch/tea break following your arrival.

2. GETTING TO LANCASTER UNIVERSITY

The Campus is located in open country 3 miles south of Lancaster city centre. Upon arrival, simply follow signs for George Fox Building.

BY CAR: Leave the M6 motorway at junction 33, Lancaster South, and follow the signs for Lancaster through the village of Galgate. The entrance to Campus is clearly signposted, on the A6 road, approx. 1.5 miles from the motorway exit.

BY COACH: Some national coach services stop at the University Campus (ask when booking). Otherwise alight at Lancaster Bus Station, where there are taxis and buses (1/1A; 2/2A) to Campus.

BY TRAIN: Lancaster is on the main West Coast (London-Glasgow) line, 3 hours from London, 2.5 hours from Glasgow/Edinburgh. Cross-country travel is through Manchester (from Yorkshire and North Midlands) or Birmingham (from all other destinations). From Lancaster rail station, there are taxis to Campus, or buses (1/1A; 2/2A -- nearest stop in Common Garden Street, 300 yards from station, for which see town maps in station concourse).

BY AIR: The nearest airport is Manchester, 60 miles south, connected to Lancaster by an hourly train service direct from the airport. Once in Lancaster, follow same instruction as train travellers.

3. CONFERENCE REGISTRATION

Conference registration (all participants) will be in the foyer of the George Fox Building (south end of Campus), between 12.00 and 14.00 on Wednesday 15 July and, for later arrivals, during coffea/tea intervals thereafter (not lunch).

Resident participants are also required to collect room keys from Lonsdale College Porter's Lodge (north end of Campus). Time allowing, you are advised to do this before going on to the George Fox Building, so as to deposit your bag(s) in your room. This will save you having to carry bags 500 yds across campus. If there is insufficient time for this, come directly to the George Fox Building, where there will be provision for the safe temporary storage of luggage, and collect your keys from Lonsdale during one of the coffea/tea/lunch intervals.
